LASIK Candidates
LASIK eye surgery is a safe, minimally invasive treatment to correct the refractive errors that cause nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. A free consultation with one of our LASIK surgeons is the first step in the process. During the consultation we assess your candidacy through a series of tests, measure your refractive error, and learn more about your medical history. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the LASIK eye surgery procedure. Contact one of our offices in Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, Aurora, and Denver to schedule an appointment for a free consultation.
Ideal candidates for LASIK eye surgery have stable vision, are aged 21 or older, and have healthy eyes. Patients with vision prescriptions not within the specified range for LASIK, those with very thin corneas, or those with corneal scarring are often not ideal candidates for LASIK eye surgery. However, as the technology used for the LASIK procedure advances, the range of candidates expands further as well.
Our LASIK surgeons will evaluate your candidacy for LASIK eye surgery during the pre-operative examination. We may also review your medical history to ensure that there no conditions that could prevent you from seeing the desired results. If you’re viewed as a good candidate for LASIK, an appointment will be set up for your refractive surgery and the doctor will give you important instructions to follow before your procedure. If LASIK is not in your future due to thin corneas, for example, our LASIK surgeons may be able to recommend another refractive surgery that fits your needs.
The LASIK surgeons at Vision Care Specialists have the experience to determine whether LASIK eye surgery will correct your refractive error. With offices in Denver, Lakewood, Aurora, and Highlands Ranch, visit us for a free LASIK consultation.
