At Vision Care Specialists, we believe in protecting the power of sight; the lens that gives life to the world around you, driving your unique vision.

Protecting that power means more than just a standard eye exam to adjust your prescription each year. Providing true protection for your eyes requires comprehensive eye exams and a complete vision care solution, custom-tailored for you by the most knowledgeable experts in the eye care and optical fields.

That’s why we hold our Doctors, technicians and opticians to the highest standards in eye care. Our staff is required to obtain additional knowledge and certifications outside of those typically required in the eye care industry, ensuring that your unique vision receives the protection it deserves.

Our Doctors are required to be Board Certified in their specialty by either the American Board of Ophthalmology, or the American Board of Optometry. For optometrists, Board Certification is a voluntary process that establishes rigorous standards to demonstrate that a doctor has exceeded basic requirements and are truly experts in their field. Currently < 15% of all optometrists in the country are Board Certified. All of Vision Care Specialists optometrists are Board Certified or are completing the necessary three-year continuing education requirements to sit for the board examination.

Our Technicians are Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COA) and Certified Ophthalmic Technicians (COT) through Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).

Our Surgical Technicians are Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COA) and Certified Ophthalmic Technicians (COT) through Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO), along with being educated in cataract refractive surgery by LenSx laser.

Our Opticians are required to be American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified and pass the National Opticianry Competency Exam (NOCE). The American Board of Opticianry is nationally recognized as the standard for optician competence assessment.

Until certified, our staff retain the title of Apprentice and work under a certified professional. Over the course of one to three years, each Apprentice will become certified in their area of expertise.
