Contact Lens Exam and Return Policy

CONTACT LENS EXAM AND RETURN POLICY
We appreciate you selecting Vision Care Specialists for your eye care needs. We believe in bringing
the future of personalized vision into focus by going above and beyond to offer a personalized eye
care experience and customized vision care solutions to fit each individual lifestyle, which includes
contact lens solutions.

We offer contact lens exams and fittings as well as contact lens sales. As a contact lens patient, there
are additional responsibilities the patient needs to be aware of to ensure successful results.

CONTACT LENS EXAM
To monitor the safety and effectiveness of your contact lenses and to assess the health of your eyes
while wearing contact lenses, routine eye examinations and contact lens progress visits are
necessary, and are required by our office. The contact lens fee is separate and in addition to the fee
for a routine eye exam/eye health evaluation.
Your doctor and/or contact lens specialist will advise you as to when and how many follow up visits
are necessary for the particular type of contact lens you are wearing.
• Our contact lens fitting and management fees include:
o Initial eligibility consult
o Diagnostic fitting
o Instructions on lens insertion, removal, care and maintenance
o Routine contact lens progress visits during the first ninety (90) days of wear

Visits for eye infections, corneal abrasions and other medical eye problems, even if related to contact
lens wear, are not included in routine fitting fees, but are usually covered by your major medical
insurance policy.

RETURNS/EXCHANGES
• Any UNMARKED, UNOPENED, AND UNEXPIRED boxes of disposable soft contact lenses can be
exchanged for up to 3 months from the date of dispense.
• Any individual defective disposable soft contact lens can be brought to our office along with the
blister pack for exchange. Therefore, we recommend that you keep your blister pack after
opening it for approximately one week.
• OPENED boxes of disposable soft contact lenses CANNOT be exchanged. Your trial fitting period
using samples of your disposable soft contact lenses is performed to ensure that the final contact
lenses prescribed will provide you with the best possible vision, comfort, and eye health during
the following year when replaced, worn, and cleaned as recommended. If you are uncertain
about the quality of vision or comfort that you achieved with your sample lenses, then you
should consult your doctor before opening your boxes.
• If you do experience difficulty with the first set of disposable contact lenses from your boxes
compared to your samples, then DO NOT open any further lenses from the box and call our
office. This is especially important with certain toric (astigmatism-correcting) soft contact lenses.
• Opened boxes of colored disposable soft contact lenses also CANNOT be exchanged. Because
manufacturers now only provide clear samples with the patient’s prescription and un-powered
color samples, we do sometimes experience complaints regarding discomfort or dissatisfaction
with the color chosen with colored disposable soft contact lenses. However, we can still gladly
exchange any unmarked, unopened, unexpired boxes of these colored disposable soft contact
lenses for up to 3 months from the date of dispense.
• Most conventional (yearly) replacement soft or rigid gas permeable contact lenses may be
exchanged for up to 60 days from the date of order.
• Finally, we DO NOT exchange any contact lenses purchased from other sources.

Should non-compliance with recommended contact lens care or lack of follow up care become a
problem, Vision Care Specialist reserves the right to terminate the doctor-patient relationship and
refuse future contact lens prescription refills.
