Denver’s New Union Station – See It, Taste It, Enjoy It!
Denver’s new Union Station is here and Vision Care Specialists has the scoop. Vision Care Specialists is recommending a visit to Union Station at all our new patient eye exams. It’s been 100 years since Union’s last renovation. In the century since its last update, Denver’s Union Station has existed mainly as a modest railroad station. However, thanks to a bold new redesign that wrapped up this summer, Union Station is now a vibrant part of the downtown Denver scene. Expanded train service (including Amtrak train service as well as the highly anticipated Light Rail to DIA coming in 2016) and a modernized rail station is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of Union Station’s fresh new look, feel, and function.
One of the biggest additions to Union Station was the opening of the Crawford, a boutique hotel located on the Union Station premises. It was dubbed the Crawford in honor of Dana Crawford, a preservationist and the honorary “first lady of LoDo,” who has been an active and visionary voice in updating the building and area for decades.
The Crawford is a unique 112 room hotel, all of which are specially decorated by regional designers. The hotel is hip and modern, and is quickly becoming one of Denver’s go-to spots for both locals and out of town visitors. Guests have access to all of the on premise shops and restaurants, as well as the bustling local neighborhood eats and sites.
Housed within Union Station are three shops and 10 restaurants. 5 Green Boxes offers an interesting mix of crafts, jewelry, and gift items. Bloom is not only a creative and unique florist, but a lifestyle and home décor boutique. The Tattered Cover, Denver’s most iconic bookstore, also is part of Union Station. Dining options range from formal to funky, breakfast to dinner, and coffee to cocktails. Check out Acme Burger & Brat Corporation, The Cooper Lounge, Fresh Exchange, The Kitchen Next Door Community Pub, Mercantile, Milkbox Creamery, Pigtrain Coffee Co., Snooze A.M. Eatery, Stoic & Genuine, and Terminal Bar, all located in Union Station.
Located in the heart of thriving downtown Denver, Union Station is quickly becoming one of the city’s true gems. Check out the Union Station website for a complete list of amenities, shops, restaurants, and more information and directions.
