Coloradans are lucky: a quick check on things to do in the Denver area always yields many interesting options. Denver is the cultural hub of the West, and it has so many things to do that, no matter what your taste, you’re bound to find new places to explore. Our museums are eye-candy for the curious. So, let’s look at one of Denver’s best for all ages, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
The museum’s permanent exhibits are unbeatable: take a Prehistoric Journey from the origins of the galaxy through the Ice Age; browse the Wildlife Exhibits with dioramas of animal life from around the world; take the Space Odyssey through celestial bodies and the laws of physics; return to the life of North American Indian Cultures with their food, clothing, and shelter; look through a huge collection of incredible Gems and Minerals from Colorado and all over the world; see a pair of ancient Egyptian Mummies; and learn all about your own health and body in the interactive Expedition Health.
Stay tuned for the Museum’s schedule of temporary exhibits and IMAX movies! Upcoming exhibits include the Mythbusters Explosive Exhibition where you can use science to solve urban legends and watch the pros do it themselves, running October 11th-January 5th. After that, on February 14th, the Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed exhibit will open about Central America’s most formidable empire. And don’t miss these great IMAX documentaries currently playing, Great White Shark 3D (Sept. 6th-Jan. 23rd), Meercats 3D (Sept. 6th-Jan. 23rds), Flight Of The Butterflies 3D (June 21st-Oct. 31st), and Rocky Mountain Express (Sept. 6th-Oct. 31st).
Whether you’re a one-time visitor or a museum frequenter, ticket prices are very fair. Adult museum visitors pay $13 to enter, and an extra $7 to see an IMAX movie; Juniors (3-18) and Seniors (65+) pay $8 and $10 respectively, and $6 extra for IMAX movies. There’s also a 10 percent student discount and a 50 percent military discount!
