ContSummertime Fun from Colorado Eye Care Pros: Elitch Gardens and Water World

The Colorado eye care doctors and staff at Vision Care Specialists are really kids at heart, and when the temps warm up they just can’t wait to enjoy Denver-area attractions Elitch Gardens and Water World. These family-friendly adventure parks have something for kids of all ages and they’ve been pleasing Coloradoans for decades.

Elitch Gardens
In 1995, Elitch Gardens was moved from its original northwest Denver location to downtown which made it the first U.S. amusement park to be built in an urban area in more than 30 years, but it became a Denver attraction in 1890 when John and Mary Elitch turned their farm into a zoological park and garden for all to enjoy. Today, the 70-acre amusement and water park is a favorite summertime Denver-area attraction. Here are just some of the top rides you don’t want to miss:

Island Kingdom Water Park: A water park with all your favorites and all the fun is included free with your Elitch Gardens’ admission price, Island Kingdom Water Park has shoots, slides and more for all-day wet and wild adventures.

Brain Drain: Added in time for the 2014 season, the Brain Drain is a 7-story thrill ride that sends riders head over heels in a 360-degree revolution.

Mind Eraser: Legs and feet dangle from riders who are firmly strapped into the Mind Eraser as they blast through a double corkscrew, dives and rollovers.

Twister II: This is a classic wooden coaster and happens to be the longest coaster in the park! It is a longer and taller version of the original Mr. Twister that opened in 1964 at the park’s previous northwest Denver location.

Water World
When you want a full day in the water and sun, you must check out Water World’s 49 attractions for kids of all ages located just 15 minutes north of downtown Denver. Water World has even been rated as one of America’s top 10 water parks by the Travel Channel. Here are a few of the rides we rush to when we visit:

Voyage to the Center of the Earth: This family-friendly high-thrill ride takes you back in time when the dinosaurs ruled.

Mile High Flyer: This is the first hydromagnetic watercoaster in the Rockies and you don’t want to miss it!

Ragin’ Colorado River: If you’re not ready to tackle the white water of Colorado’s rivers, you might like Water World’s Ragin’ Colorado River, a thrill ride that’s tame enough for the little ones.
